"Resource -- Afghan Sizes Reference Table"

Afghan Sizes

SOURCE:  www.planetshoup.com/easy/tips/afghsize.shtml

"A handy reference from information collected over the years from the internet, various publications, patterns, first hand knowledge, etc.

The sizes given are intended to just cover the top of the intended item or recipient, plus a couple of inches extra. You'll need to make it larger be adding extra squares on three of the four sides, or go up a size, to allow extra for hanging over the side, tucking in, etc.

I've also added a quick reference for the number of knitted or crocheted squares in the most common sizes for each size afghan. Where the number of squares does not work out exactly, the number given will make a slightly larger item than given under Measurements. In brackets is the arrangement of the squares, ie 48 (6x8) means that particular size takes 48 squares, and they should be assembled 6 columns across (in width) by 8 rows down (in length).

Note: The bed sizes are based on Canadian measurements. Elsewhere in the world, they may be somewhat different."

"Mary of Magdelene -- John 20:10-18"

Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying… she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. “Woman,” he said, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned to him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!”
Visit "The Commissioning of Mary Magdalene" by Heide Strate for a beautiful description of Marry Magdalene being called to spread the news of Jesus' resurrection.

Can you solve this mystery for me?  Who is the sculptor of this beautiful image? Background information?  Was the piece commissioned? If so, when, by who?

Is the sculpture in a museum?  Are reproductions available?  Any information
would be appreciated. -- MEW

Claddagh Ring
"The claddagh ring is one of the most well-known Irish wedding traditions. Typically passed down from mother to daughter or grandmother to granddaughter, the ring represents love, friendship, and loyalty. Single ladies wear the ring on their right hand with the point of the heart facing the fingertip. When in a relationship, the ring is flipped around so that the point faces the wrist, symbolizing that her heart has been captured. And when the woman becomes engaged, the ring is moved over to her left hand, with the point of the heart facing the fingertips. The ring is flipped around at the wedding."

"Fabulous Finds... Crochet Slang -- The Crochet Crowd"

"The Crochet Crowd" is a fabulous resource for crocheters. The site offers advice, tutorials, patterns, projects, challenges, a newsletter, inspiration and more.  TCC can be found at www.thecrochetcrowd.com and on Facebook.

~~~~~~
Most crocheters are familiar with the “Abbreviation Guides” published with most patterns.  “Slang,” however, is omitted from the guides.  “The Crochet Crowd” compiled the following guide to “Crochet Slang” in their “Keeping Up with the Crowd! A Hooker’s Journal.”  Some of these terms are just plain fun …
C2C -- Corner to Corner (A crochet stitch pattern.)
De-Stash -- Cleaning out your “Stash” of yarn of the stuff you had to have but will never use
Free Hand -- Crocheting something without a pattern
Frogging -- “Rippit, Rippit, Rippit!”  Rip it out baby!  For whatever reason you find yourself undoing your hard work, it is the art of Frogging.
Hooker -- A term of endearment for a crocheter.  One who “hooks” for enjoyment or compensation.
HOTH -- Hot Off the Hook
Stash -- Your collection of yarn, most often stashed in nooks and crannies around the house.
UFO -- Un-Finished Object
WIP -- Work in Progress
Yarn Bomb -- The art of crochet graffiti where an object or place is taken over with crochet art.
