A quick update on today's session …
We had another full house with six members in attendance and long-distance member C.O. in spirit! C.O. is keeping busy making cowls and a prayer shawl … visit the “Photo Gallery” for a look at her handiwork.
Today we welcomed J.D. into the group. A painter, she decided to try her hand at hat making then switched to working up a frilly neck wrap/scarf with “Sashay,” a vibrant ruffling lace/ribbon yarn. She’s joining M.G. in the challenge to make a neck wrap/scarf to support “Team LFBC’s” fund-raising for the 2016 American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" benefit in June.
M.G. provided one-on-two instruction with a smile to J.D. and R.G. on crocheting a delicate summer hat. She then focused on sharing the secrets of working with ribbon yarn with J.D. while R.G. continued working on her hat.
J.P. donated two books to the group’s library of resources … one on knitting in-the-round and the other on crocheted sweaters. She shared a completed set of knit baby booties with the group and put them on G.G. to try on for size. A perfect fit! She gave M.W. a quick overview of purling … all M.W. has to do now is transpose the “leftie” instructions into “rightie” instructions and practice a bit before the group’s next meeting. J.P. continued working on her next set of booties.
L.B. learned how to form a brim and finish off a loom-knit hat. She continued working on her first hat … it’s a beauty in two shades of green.
Once again, M.W. jumped from person to person without really accomplishing anything on her sun hat project, but still having fun.
M.W.'s first "Destin Beach Sun Hat" -- in "Lilac" -- is over 75% completed and is looking good after ignoring the gauge and overshooting the mark … her initial attempt was huge! Lesson learned, she's reworking the brim and hopes to complete the hat in time for Saturday’s RFL garage sale at LFBC. Next up … a sun hat in "Pink" (for breast cancer awareness). She's still hoping to make a handful of the hats to sell at the RFL. Consider joining M.W. on this challenge.
Mark your calendars ... our next session is scheduled for the first Monday in June -- Monday, June 6, 2016, 1:00 to 3:00 PM! We hope you’ll join us!
